前言

　　李由也是朵奇葩。
　　他长得比较混不吝，在路上问路都曾经把路人吓跑过，天生的土匪凶相。不过他幸亏没进黑道，因为隐藏的性情实在不适合。我们曾一起走西藏，路上看见小野猫，他都会忍不住“咪咪、咪咪”地唤，猫咪倒不以貌取人，直奔过来靠在他的脚边左右蹭着，他就温柔地喂这喂那，一副情感泛滥的暖男样子。
　　温存的内心也许能够反映出他部分神经末梢的敏感度够高。粗放不羁的外表和高敏感度的内心形成了比较大的反差，这种反差难免会反映在他的艺术创作中。其实，这种反差，本身也是当代艺术作品中的常见反差。有些作品，看上去挺混不吝的，仔细研究研究，会发现作品中满藏着对人性的反思、对社会现实的关怀。本次展览的李由纸上作品正是这种类型。
　　见过李由作品的人应该都感受过他藏不住的才华。他的作品比较多样化。在硕大到令人嫉妒的工作室里，陈列着他多年来的创作，有雕塑、有装置、有绘画，还有一些酷劲十足的、将艺术元素与手工制作掺杂在一起的不知道该叫艺术品还是工艺品的作品。所有这些作品中，一以贯之的是他浓浓的个人风格。但他本次展出的、近两三年创作的这批纸上作品，似乎稍有不同。
　　首先是材质选择和形式呈现上比较有新意。这批作品辨识度极高，风格的统一性和图像呈现的独特性共同作用，造成一种极强的视觉冲击力，能给观众提供一种相当与众不同的视觉体验。很难想象在这样的作品前，观众能够漠然走过而不驻足。仅这一点，在这个艺术呈现形式极度多样的时代，已经非常珍贵了。另外，可能是更为重要的一点，这批作品的思想性极强，这种极强的思想性无疑能给这批作品平添更为厚重的力量。显然，李由所关心的，并不仅仅是对艺术表现形式的拓展，他更将自己对生命本质的考量、对社会现实的反思等诸多体验注入到了作品中。
　　至于李由究竟是怎么想的，他究竟将怎样的价值判断隐藏在作品中，这可能并非是李由想过于直白地传达出来的。也许更为重要的并非他是怎样想的，而是当观者站在他的作品前，观者会生出怎样的想法。
　　仅就我个人的感觉而言，在一个鬼话连篇的时代，办一场鬼画连篇的展览，也算是应个景儿，舒爽一下心情。只不过，鬼画连篇和鬼话连篇截然不同，鬼画中隐藏的话语，没有一句是鬼话，反倒是将所有严肃的、真实的、深沉的、暗藏于心又不能轻易说出口的想法以图像的方式戏谑地传达了出来。这或者是另一种自我解放和自我救赎的方式。毕竟，活在当下的我们，真正所能选择的表达方式，实在也并不太多。

　　Li You seems like a weirdo.
　　He used to scare the passerby away on the road due to his fierce look. However， the main reason why he did not become a member of the gangsters is that his gruff exterior concealed one of the kindest hearts. He called out to the kittens involuntary and fed them on our way to Tibet. He looked like a warm man when he crouched down to gently stroke the cats.
　　Perhaps his warm personality reflecting his nerve endings with high sensitivity could bein deep contrast with his appearance.The gap between his personality and appearance is hidden in his works. In fact， the exhibited works and some of the his other works can illustrate the reflection of human nature and the concern for social reality.
　　The people who have seen his works could be able to have a better understanding of  his talent.He has been devoting his painstaking efforts to the art creation. There are diversified works which are combined with his personal style including sculpture， installation， painting and some excellent handicrafts with art ideas in his spacious studio. However， the exhibited workson paper seem slightly different compared with his previous works.
　　First， the material selection and the artform of these highly recognizable works are innovative.The unity of style and the unique features of the image show a strong visual impact， which can provide the audience with a quite different visual experience. In addition， the strong ideological content as a vital point of these works contributes to enrich its performance. Obviously， the artist is not only concerned about the expansion of artistic form， but more focused on his own consideration of life itself， the reflection of social reality and other experiences in terms of art creation.
　　The artist aims to hidden the value judgements in his works. The most important issue is how the viewers would conceive and think deeply through his works.
　　From my point of view， this exhibition named 'Shadows of Reality' could be the mirror reflecting an era of impetuous drift. Some serious， real and deep thoughts  from the artist are conveyed by the way of image. It could become a wayof self-liberation and self-redemption. To be honest， we have limited expressions when we are living in the moment.

　　我是想通过画面的肢体语言来表现一种人性的原始冲动。它是本能的欲望呈现，更接近自然属性也更接近真理。
　　I would like to illustrate the primitive impulse of human nature through the body language in painting. It is the appearance of instinctive desire that is closer to the nature property and the truth.

　　艺术作品不是为了呈现你的手段有多丰富娴熟，而是为了让生命升华，让灵魂有释放的空间。它不是客体的形象所能包裹住的。一件好作品应该能刺破世俗的天空让观者有痛的感受。
　　The artworks aim to the sublimation of life and allow the soul to be free instead of showing a skillful way of painting. Audiences could experience a kind of spiritual pain from an excellent piece of work which should be able to break the secular society.

　　我们的价值观从没像今天这样单一纯粹直接了当流淌着对物质的追逐与崇拜。欲望已变得那么赤裸裸，名和利已经刻在了心上。
　　Our values have never been simplistic as today to pursue and worship the material life.The desires，fame and wealth have been deeply rooted in the hears of people.

　　作品不会是完全个人化的东西，它会有一些公共性在里面，包括历史情感和记忆。不管你用什么方法表现艺术作品，唯一的方法是把表和里的“真实”再现在作品里。
　　The work has not only the feature of personalization， but the public characters including historical emotion and memory. No matter what method the artists apply to art creation，the only way is to reproduce the surface-inner reality in the works.

　　变化是艺术至高无上的法则。艺术不应该是壹加壹等于贰的数学游戏，艺术的可能性是壹加壹等于无限的梦幻叙事。
　　Change is the absolute law of art. It is no doubt that the unlimited possibilities of art can be infinite fantasy.
