宋庄美术馆成立于2006年10月6日，位于北京市通州区宋庄艺术园区内，共占地5000平米。宋庄美术馆共两层，内部包括展厅、学术报告及放映厅、办公室、A计划艺术品商店和艺术书店等。室内展厅的最高处挑高达到16米，是迄今为止中国的美术馆中室内挑高高度最高的。宋庄美术馆主要举办当代艺术的展演活动，进行国际当代艺术交流，并通过这些展览，关注中国当代艺术的发展动向和最新思潮，推动中国当代艺术与国际文化艺术的交流。

艺术批评家栗宪庭先生出任首任馆长。

2012年5月，方蕾女士出任宋庄美术馆馆长。

Song Zhuang Art Center is located in the Song Zhuang Art Community, Tong Zhou District in Beijing. The project was initiated and organized by the eminent art critic Li Xianting in 2004. With financial support from the local authority, the construction of SZAC was successfully completed in Oct. 2006, and the center has since been open to the public. Li Xianting was appointed to be the director and continues to hold the position at beginning. Fang lei is currently the director at SZAC. The main part of this two‐storey art center occupies a land area of 5000 square meters. It consists of three exhibition spaces, one auditorium, one screening room, offices, Plan A art store, storage space and a art book store.
