南通市中心美术馆成立于2008年5月，是南通市第一家民办非企业美术馆。

    美术馆位于风光旖旎的南濠河之滨、南通城市博物馆东侧，紧邻南大街商业圈中心。中心美术馆是在张謇之兄张詧的城南别业基础上改建而成，这里杨柳依依、碧波荡漾，现代的大块面玻璃和钢结构与红砖碧瓦的晚清建筑完美融合，在绿树掩映中更显现代与时尚。

    展区面积达1400平方米，固定展线长度220米，层高3~3.5米，中庭高8米，外场占地2000余平方米，可举办各类大型展览。馆内划分有主展区、艺术书店、阅览休息区、报告厅和办公区五大功能区域。

    中心美术馆一直致力于美术展览、收藏研究和教育传播工作，大力挖掘地方美术资源，促进国际间艺术交流与合作。我们力求通过规范化运营，将中心美术馆打造为一个具有专业化水准、国际化视野的美术研究机构。

    Nantong Central Art Gallery, founded in May 2008, is the first privately-owned non-profit gallery.

    The gallery is located to the east of Nantong City Museum beside the picturesque moat and within easy reach of South Street known as the busiest CBD. It is established on the basis of Chengnan Villa, which used to be owned by Zhang Cha, the third brother of Zhang Jian who was No.1 Imperial Scholar of Qing Dynasty. With weeping willows and limpid water to its south, the building is a perfect combination of modern vogue and traditional style so that both the large glass panels as well as the steel structure, the red bricks and dark tiles can be seen all together here.

    There are1400m2 of exhibition floor space with 220m of displaying length. The height of each storey is 3 to 3.5m while that of the central parlor is 8m. The outdoor area is more than 2000 m2. It is available for holding various exhibitions in fairly big size and scale. The indoor space is made up of five functional divisions, namely the Main Exhibition Hall, the Arts Book Store, the Lounge, the Conference Hall and the Office Area.

    Nantong Central Art Gallery has been always engaged in art exhibition, collection, research, education and publicity. Great effort has been made to explore local art resources and promote art exchange and cooperation between nations. We aim at turning it into an art research institution with professional standard and internationalized perspectives through standardized operation.
