　　RED GATE FORMALISM SHOW SET FOR JULY

　　BEIJING June 19, 2009 – Red Gate Gallery will open the group show, CHINAFORM, on July 4, 2009 at the Dongbianmen Watchtower location. The show will explore the directions of formalism in today’s Chinese art.

　　“Chinese artists approach formalism very differently from Western artists,” Director Tally Beck comments, “and we see this evidenced strongly in abstraction, for example. This show will illustrate different conceptualizations of formalism from the artists’ perspective.

　　The participating artists include Jiang Weitao, Han Qing, Li Gang, Shi Zhongying, Tan Ping, Zhou Jirong and Zhou Jun. The diversity of media and styles of these artists will afford a panoramic exploration of the theme.

　　There will be an opening reception of the show on Saturday, July 4, 2009 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the Watchtower. The show will run through July 26.
